Can you import a vehicle that isn't in stock?

Yes. We source vehicles from international markets around the world — tell us the make, model, year and budget, we source it and quote you, you approve, and the import arrangements proceed. Use the Request a Quote form on this page.

How old can an imported vehicle be?

It depends on the type — for example, motor cars and station wagons up to 8 seats are up to 6 years old under the standard limit, and returning residents go up to 10 years. Use the eligibility checker in Eligibility & Duty and confirm the current rules on the Trade Board's official motor vehicle page.

Do I need anything before a vehicle is shipped?

Yes. An import licence/permit from the Trade Board must be obtained before the vehicle is shipped, and used vehicles from designated countries (including Japan, USA, Canada, UK, Singapore, Thailand, China and UAE) need a Pre-Shipment Inspection certificate from Autoterminal Japan (ATJ) before shipping.

Are you a certified dealer?
